Qixi in Taiwan: Valentine's Day Under the Stars
今年农历七月七(2026年8月19日)在台湾普遍庆祝。jīn nián nóng lì qī yuè qī zài tái wān pǔ biàn qìng zhùThis year's lunar July 7 (August 19, 2026) is widely celebrated in Taiwan.七夕的故事来自牛郎织女,和星星与相会的传说有关。qī xī de gù shì lái zì niú láng zhī nǚ hé xīng xīng yǔ xiāng huì de chuán shuō yǒu guānThe story of Qixi comes from the Cowherd and Weaver Girl and is related to the legend of their meeting among the stars.传统上,人们会乞巧,女子会拜织女,摆水果和手工刺绣,祈求巧艺和姻缘。chuán tǒng shàng , rén men huì qǐ qiǎo , nǚ zǐ huì bài zhī nǚ , bǎi shuǐ guǒ hé shǒu gōng cì xiù , qí qiú qiǎo yì hé yīn yuánTraditionally, people pray for skills; women worship the Weaver Girl, set out fruits and hand-stitched embroidery, praying for craftsmanship and marriage.
在台湾,七夕也有地方习俗。zài tái wān , qī xī yě yǒu dì fāng xí súIn Taiwan, Qixi also has local customs.南部有些地方保留七娘妈的仪式,还有做十六岁的成年习俗。nán bù yǒu xiē dì fāng bǎo liú qī niáng mā de yí shì , hái yǒu zuò shí liù suì de chéng nián xí súIn the south, some places preserve the Qiniangma ritual and also have coming-of-age customs for sixteen-year-olds.现在七夕多被视为情人节,情侣会送礼、订餐厅、安排约会夜。xiàn zài qī xī duō bèi shì wéi qíng rén jié , qíng lǚ huì sòng lǐ 、 dìng cān tīng 、 ān pái yuē huì yèNow Qixi is often seen as a lovers' day; couples give gifts, book restaurants, and arrange date nights.
