Learn Chinese from what you are already reading

Most vocabulary apps hand you a list and ask you to memorize it. The trouble is that a list is detached from anything you care about, so the words fade as fast as you learn them. The words that actually stick are the ones you meet in context, again and again, in things you genuinely want to read.

Start from real text

TingWo flips the usual order. Instead of giving you words to study, it takes the Chinese you are already reading, a news story, a chat message, a sign you photographed, and finds the words in it you probably do not know yet.

For example, in a sentence like 你好世界, every character is colored by its tone, so pronunciation is part of reading from the very first glance.

Bring them back at the right time

Once a word is in your deck, spaced repetition decides when to show it again. A word you find easy comes back rarely; a word marked 难 returns soon. You stop looking the same word up over and over, because the app brings it back just before you would have forgotten it.

Listen, do not just look

Reading silently is only half the language. Every word and sentence in TingWo has native audio, so you hear the rhythm and tone, not just the shape of the characters. Speaking practice then asks you to say it back.
